i once attend a course conducted by my school for all sports personel,it's call mental skills training.damn useful and cool,everyone shld try and research on this.anw,shall share with everyone here.

our mind is actually more inclined to positive comments than negative comments.so for example,instead of saying "don't give up", you shld say "cont on/go on/strive on".coz especially one is tired,his/her mind will only register "give up" of the "don't give up".so people,next time when u want to encourage ur teammates,esp when they are on court,think carefully of wat u shld say first.
secondly,try visualizing urself doing positive actions b4 a game.that means,visualing urself doing things which u know how to do during training.as jiaolian mentioned b4,usually when we are on court,for most pple,we only performed abt 50% of our normal self.and that's like the maximum.so to maximise our potential,we shld visualize ourself in a real game and perform wat we do usually.like for example,for a center,u visualize urself doing ur normal stuff,box out and catch rebounds,doing lan di.....try to throw away ur negative thoughts(e.g not being able to shoot accurate lan di or can't catch rebounds) esp b4 a match.
in conclusion,focus on things u know how to do usually.

mental skills training is like real training,it's real practice and training.so everyone,try to visualize urself doing positive stuff every now and then.so when real match comes,all of u will be mentally prepared for the match.take care!and
